Where to find great imagery?

Homescreen images

The home screen is the first thing your clients will see when they log in, make sure to choose a great image that will impress them from the start. The best images are:

1. High-Quality

Phones and tablets are high-definition so your images need to be too. The images you choose should be as close to 2048 x 2048 px in size. The most important dimension is the height of the image, try to ensure the height is as close to 2000px as possible, in practice most images above 1920x1080px tend to work well.

2. Not too busy or white

As the overlay text is white, busy or images with lots of white don't tend to look good. Bear in mind your logo will be sitting on top of this image too. Plainer images such as landscapes or seascapes will make your logo and homescreen text stand out more.

3. Not cropped

Don't try to crop your images to the exact dimensions of an iPhone 15, as this wont look good on an iPad. All devices are different dimensions and Vamoos will auto-crop your image for each device.

Requirements:

Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, png

Max file size: 12 MB

Recommended dimensions: 2048 x 2048 px

Look at the examples below, the first 2 are beautiful images that make the logo, countdown and text stand out. The third image is a bit blurry, busier, and too white and the features get a little lost.

Storyboard images

The Vamoos Storyboard brings your itineraries to life by allowing you to add an eye-catching image for each section or day. The best images are:

1. High Quality

Same as the homescreen advice above, try get as close to 2048 x 2048 px squared, but most images above 1920 x 1080px work well.

2. Focal point in the centre

There are 2 views of the storyboard, the 'summary' overview and when you click on a section you'll see the 'detailed' view. A great rule of thumb is to choose an image where the focal point of it is in the centre, this will look great in both orientations.

Requirements:

Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, png

Max file size: 12 MB

Recommended dimensions: 2048 x 2048 px

Take a look at the examples below. Whilst both images look good in the Summary view (middle screenshot) - when you click on the elephant you can only see its ear, but when you click on the lion you can see it clearly as the lion is in the centre of the image.

Stock image websites - these are fantastic places to find high quality royalty-free travel images. We'd recommend:

Google Images - search engines are a great way to find imagery, be sure to use the Google image search tools and filter by 'Large' images only, and try using search keywords such as Wallpaper, HD or Background. You can also search by usage rights. Once you've found your image, check the dimensions in the bottom right-hand corner.
